Moms, do you sometimes get a bit frustrated when you just can’t seem to find the time to go to the gym or do your workouts because of family commitments? You’re not alone! Here are five exercise tips for losing weight while home with the kids that are sure to help because any physical activity is better then none right?
5 Exercise Tips for Losing Weight while Home with the Kids
1) Play outdoor games that you played as a child. Do you remember games like tag, Red Light Green Light, Mother May I and hopscotch? Those are tons of fun. Setting up an obstacle course would be great too. If the weather where you live is nice and you have a pool, swimming is awesome exercise.
2) Biking around the neighborhood or at the park is a blast. It doesn’t matter the type of bike your child has, whether it’s a regular bike, tricycle, scooter or even a Big Wheel and yours is a walking/jogging stroller, biking in any form is great fun. Don’t forget the helmets!
3) During family TV time make it a point during commercials for everyone to get up and move around. You can play a quick round of hide and seek, do exercise moves like jumping jacks, mock jump rope, sit ups and more. Just be sure to stay active for the entire commercial break.
4) Do strength training moves like arm curls, rows and chest press with dumbbells (or soup cans!), lunges and squats while on the phone or even while cooking in the kitchen.
5) While doing outdoor housework like raking leaves, mowing the lawn, gardening, shoveling snow or walking the dog be sure to have the kids join in the fun.
We all know it’s very important for kid’s to be active but it’s important that you as a mom also get your activity in as well. If you follow any or all of these exercise tips, everyone will sleep better, be more alert and you will definitely see a difference in your life. You’ll have a much happier family that is for sure.
Limit TV, video games and computer time and get up and move! The more active you become losing weight while home with the kids will be a breeze. Your kids will see how motivated you are to stay active and there is no doubt they will be thrilled with the time and attention they will get with each of these activities.
