Anyone who has a younger sibling who has gone off to college has lots of words of wisdom that they want to impart to them as they embark on this life changing journey. That’s exactly the thought process that Christie Crowder worked with when she wrote Your Big Sister’s Guide to Surviving College.
This book is jam packed with tips about everything from studying to physical health, money management to what you should have on your iPod to keep your spirits up. The complete focus of mind, body, and soul well being are the common themes that run through this entire book. There’s even a section for the parents of these girls that are heading off to school.
Christie has taken a potentially tough topic and broken down into a book that is easy to read and quite practical in application. Little tips like “always have your cell phone handy when you’re walking on campus (or off)” and “be a part of study group or start your own” are sprinkled across every chapter. She also delves into some of the tougher topics like how to (or how not to) make money while you’re in school and the dreaded “Freshman 15.”
If you know a young woman who is heading off to college (or parents the parents of one) I’d recommend sending them this book. It’s a great read (and Christie has a great sense of humor throughout) and the practical tips could save some young women some major headaches.
