Two Reviews in One Post: Queen of the Road and SteamPotVille

Today, I have not one, but two book reviews for you! One book is for adults and the other is for kids (or at least the kid in all of us). I know, you can hardly contain yourself, so let me get right into it.

The first book is called Queen of the Road: The True Tale of 47 States, 22,000 Miles, 200 Shoes, 2 Cats, 1 Poodle, a Husband, and a Bus with a Will of Its Own. How could I NOT want to read this book? Here’s the premise: A married couple (both psychiatrists with opposite personalities) decide to go on a massive road trip. They’re using a converted bus for their adventure and both are shocked when Doreen agrees to go. So, they’re off in their 340 square foot bus along with three pets with no real plan or itinerary. Just them and the open road.

This book is hilarious. Doreen’s writing style will have your sides aching as you follow them on their adventure. One of my favorite parts (mostly because I could totally relate to doing something similar) is when they’re driving over some bridges that have weight limits and Doreen screams “WE’RE TWENTY TONS! WE’RE TWENTY TONS!” And then there’s the whole scene where they end up in the nudist RV camp… Well, if that doesn’t have you laughing out loud, then I don’t know what to tell you. This book is written in a style that’s very similar to my own internal monologue – candid, funny, and bouncing from one thought to another. It doesn’t take long to see why Doreen truly deserves the title “Queen of the Road.”

The second book is a children’s book that I got a tip about while on Twitter. The book is called SteamPotVille. This book is magical, to say the least. The artwork in it is unbeliveable. Just look at the images on the site! Phenomenal is practically an understatement. The author is a very funny guy on Twitter named Steve Ouch. He named me as someone who is cool on Twitter. I must say he owns that honor as well.

This book is fantastic gift option for any kid who loves a magical story, animals, make believe, beautiful pictures or any combination thereof. Be sure to follow Steve on Twitter and tell him his book is awesome! Thanks, Steve, for letting me tell our readers about your amazing book and I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I say I hope we see a lot more from you along this vein of creativity!
