Simple fun

We moved into a new house this weekend. As exciting as a new house is, the unpacking and getting organized again can be a real pain.

Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been doing our best to keep our girls entertained while the majority of their toys and fun things were packed up in boxes. Here are a few fun things we have discovered in the process:

1) We don’t have to get fancy to have fun. Rather than planning to do any complicated projects we kept it simple. Crayons and coloring books, a travel size Doodle-Pro, and colored pencils and scratch paper were all we had on hand. We did lots of drawing and coloring and made cootie catchers and paper airplanes.

2) Coloring is more exciting when done on unusual surfaces. We let the girls go to town on the already packed boxes and even the backsides of some artwork.

3) The time spent together is more important than what you make. The girls didn’t care that it was just a paper airplane, they just wanted to spend time creating with mom.

Take some time this week to enjoy some simple fun with your kids.
