A “Fair” Bit of Crafting

Everything is a little crazy when you have company coming to town, but when you throw in plans for a birthday party and two other get-togethers in the same day, you just might lose your mind. Ask me how I know. I’ve lost track of how many loads of laundry have been done this week, and I couldn’t even begin to add up the total amount of time spent cleaning.

As much as I wanted to craft something with my girls today and share it with you, it just didn’t happen. Hopefully I’ll have some birthday related crafty goodness to share with you next week.

Even if I’m not crafting today, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be crafting. I just got an email yesterday reminding me about the Creative Arts competitions at the Oklahoma State Fair. What better way to show off what you have been working on over the past year and maybe even win a prize. There are so many different categories for all different kinds of crafters and artists. There are even categories for kids to enter their projects.

Our fair is in September, so I have a couple of months to decide if I’m going to enter something. I could try to get an apron or two together to enter in the needlecraft/household articles or needlecraft/clothing section. I could get a few scrapbook layouts or framed pages together and enter those in the scrapbooking category. I’m even considering the amateur photo show.

I am out of time for looking around today, but I’m going back to the website to check out the rules later. Your job today is to find out when your state or county fair is and see if they also have any competitions where you can show off what you have been working on this year. If you are planning on participating in a fair, or have in the past, I would love to hear about it.
