The perfect drink for a cool autumn day. Warm up with a steamy mug after an autumn walk looking at the colorful leaves or after raking the leaves in your yard. Also delicious on a cold, rainy day.

Hot Spiced Apple Cider

1 gallon apple cider
6 cinnamon sticks, plus additional for garnish
1 teaspoon of Watkins Whole Cloves
Several  (1/4-inch-thick) apple slices, seeds removed, for garnish

1. Pour cider into slow cooker. Add cinnamon sticks and whole cloves. Heat cider on high for 45 minutes, then turn to low. Keep cider warn in slow cooker. (float cinnamon sticks and cloves in cider in slow cooker or break up cinnamon sticks and place pieces with cloves in a cheesecloth tied with a string and add to cider.)

2. Ladle hot cider into mugs and top with apple slices and cinnamon sticks.

3. For apple slices, wash apples thoroughly; do not peel. Place apple on side and slice through center of apple cutting 1/4 inch thick slices. Remove seeds.

4. Ladle cider into mugs and add apple slices and cinnamon sticks.

This looks great. We are going to the apple orchard tomorrow on a field trip and I’m going to pick up some apples to make this.

This recipe sounds wonderful to share with friends on a cold night. Good timing for Halloween and Thanksgiving. The smell of cloves is very soothing to me so thanks for this recipe for the crock pot.
