ALDI: Groceries & More for a Budget Minded Family

Last year I shared a post about ALDI.  You can read it here.

ALDI LogoShopping at ALDI is a given in our house.

(If you haven’t shopped at ALDI before make sure you bring a quarter for the shopping cart and your own bags for your purchases)

I make the shopping list. I visit ALDI to purchase the items on my list that are available there (you can’t beat their milk prices!) and then finish up the  shopping list with a mixture of items at the local produce stand, my garden and  my other go-to grocery store.

By shopping at ALDI first, I know that I’m getting the best price and good quality items….and THAT’S good for my bank account!

If you have an ALDI near you, please do yourself a favor and go visit the store with your shopping list.  I can tell you that you’ll probably be able to cross of the majority of your shopping needs – especially the basics- at a cheaper price without sacrificing quality.

Recently, I was able to get a bunch of produce at some really good prices.  A 5lb bag of potatoes, 2 -heads of cauliflower, 3lb bag of sweet potatoes all for .99 each item.  I haven’t seen 5lbs of potatoes anywhere for .99 so I grabbed a couple bags.  That’s just a sampling of some of the great deals you’ll find when you get to your local store.  You can check out their Weekly Specials before you go so you know what “extra” items they have on hand. That means that you have less places to travel to so you’re saving time and money in a completely different way.

I bought virtually every single item I needed for both my Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners at ALDI.  Ham was only .99/lb so I bought 3.   Hey….we like ham. 😀  We had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, potato salad and both pecan & pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving.  For Christmas we had ham, potato salad, sausage stuffing and roasted asparagus (they have a really nice frozen asparagus).

We were also treated to things like tasty cheeses, wines, desserts, pies and cookies.  They had it all and I loved the savings.

ALDI is a great place to purchase good quality items at a low price and stretch that entertainment budget during the busy holiday season.

But don’t count them out for everyday items and special buys.  They even had toys for the kids as really good prices and don’t even get me started on the meat selection.  I buy up a few packs of their delicious pork chops every time I visit.

So, do yourself a favor and see if there’s an ALDI near you and then do some shopping.  I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Hey There, I know this is an older post, but I was browsing your archives and this caught my eye. I love, love, LOVE Aldi. Anytime I’m near one I stop in. They are great for anyone who is doing juicing (tried it for a while but it wasn’t for me) as well as staples. The quality of their food is great and they’ve saved me in the past when prepping a big meal for a big family get together. Also, their Jenny-O Turkey burger patties are SO much cheaper than any of the other stores in my area.
