Thanksgiving Craft Ideas for Kids

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and the weather is getting colder. If you’re looking for some fun ways to entertain your children, here are some great Thanksgiving craft ideas!

A Thanksgiving Wreath – A simple straw wreath and a few Thanksgiving decorations are all you need. Your kids can create their own wreaths to hang on the front door.

Thanksgiving Cups – This is a great, simple idea for family gatherings with a lot of kids running around. Stock up on some small plastic cups from the dollar store and some craft markers. Each child can decorate their own cup to take home after the gathering! Alternatively you could use styrofoam cups with non-toxic markers that can be thrown out later on.

Thanksgiving Turkey Placemats – Let your kids start by making turkeys out of colored construction paper. Glue each turkey to a solid sheet of construction paper and then have it laminated to create their own one of a kind Thanksgiving placemat.

Thanksgiving Pinecone Turkey – This is one of my favorite. My youngest has a weird fascination with pinecones so she loves this. After gathering the pinecones, you can cut out colorful turkey feathers from colored construction paper and a bit of red felt for the turkey’s comb. Glue together, inserting feathers in between the pine cone leaves.

Thanksgiving Flower Pots – You can pick up very small clay pots for cheap at your local gardening store along with a bag of potting soil and packages of seeds (flowers, vegetables or herbs). Let your child label their pot with the name of the seed using a magic marker. Then they can fill the pot with soil and plant their seeds. Your kids can enjoy watching them sprout and perhaps give them away as Thanksgiving gifts at your local nursing home.
